You know when I’m worried about my weight that A blog will likely appear.
The Buckeye finally found help; he has paid for a dietitian who specializes in PKD. The Buckeye, you see has polycystic kidney disease. He’s known this for almost 2 decades, and from time to time has eaten the things that work with his kidney disease. The ripe age of 57, however, he is finally taking his diet very seriously as his kidney function declines to various scary levels. In addition to the kidney function declining, he also has the incentive of a little girl we call Trinket.
Since I last blogged, the Princess and the Commander have both married. The Princess married her Marine boyfriend a mere six weeks after he returned home. Their Fourth of July wedding was perfect in every way, planned while the Buckeye and I took a 10 day road trip back to Michigan to help my brother move to Florida and then back to AZ (now that I should’ve blogged!)
The Commander, on the other hand, got married in October, and while on her European honeymoon conceived a baby in Scotland.
As of today, she is six weeks old, and we are head over heels in love. My new name is Grama, spelled as my beloved Grama spelled it. Looking back, I have to appreciate that in 1966, my grandmother chose to be GRAMA, when everyone around her used the traditional spelling. It is with tremendous joy I realize she was 54 years old when she became a grandmother, just like I was when she was born, three days after my birthday.
As you can see, I am pudgy and tired. Menopause has been horrible; while HRT has brought some relief, I’m still a mess physically. My little business has grown substantially, and we’ve actually been named on of the top 100 small businesses in the United States!
Did I mention we also opened a storefront? Which is completely in the black four months in? (That’s Trinket, 10 days old, at our ribbon cutting!)
One year ago, I won the Moonshot Rural Pitch Competition. My pitch: a storefront. We opened in April, with little notice…the concept didn’t draw people in.
But the Princess suggested I move my little three-shelf gift shop to the front of the store.

The Puzzle Shop is a bonafide hit.
Now the foundational piece of our brand, The Puzzle Shop supports Puzzle Rides year round, with heavy community events and involvement. It’s why we were named in The Disrupter category by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
Soooooooo I’ve had to buy business clothes….and ugh.
I need to lose weight. Not for Washington, but to be healthy. But it’s hard working 16 hrs a day, 6 days a week.
I love him so much. Seven years of marriage, eight and a half years together. We were at a trade show in Vegas, but scored a free meal at the Eiffel Tower restaurant!!
Did I mention I live most of the time now in Prescott?
I’ve honestly come home. Even the Buckeye admits it, we’re supposed to be there.
‘Cause Trinket π
So I’m at the apartment most weeks, days in Phoenix. The Buckeye runs Scottsdale while I grow Prescott, and we anxiously await Manchild’s return.
He was home for his birthday, and we looked at planes:). Oddly, he still refuses to call me “Little Mother.”
He’s done with the Corp in February, and he’s joining the family business.
So much happening, so much joy.
So why would I ever *want* to exercise?
Maybe the blog will return.
It’s only been around for ten years:)
